A laptop battery is considered to be too expensive to buy, so if you have an old laptop with you, you can easily make use of the old battery. There are many different ways and techniques used to restore dying batteries of laptops. In this article, we will learn about various methods of restoring dying laptop battery:-
Laptop battery freezing method
This procedure is considered as the unique one to restore your dying laptop battery. By freezing the laptop battery, you can make use of it for a longer time. Here are some of the following steps to be considered:-
Step 1- Place your battery in a plastic bag
Step 2- Place that plastic bag in a freezer and leave it for 12 hours. Some of them advised to place it for a longer period of time, but it can be dangerous too.
Step 3- After some time remove the plastic bag and let the battery get warm until it reaches the room temperature. Make sure to clean the battery with a towel to remove condensation as its warm-up.
Step 4–Setback the laptop battery and charge it completely
Step 5-once it is charged unplug the power and let the battery trench all the way down.
At last, you need to perform step 4 and step 5 at least 4 times. Charge it and then discharge it completely. You can only perform these experiments on NiMH batteries. If you try it on a lithium battery then the battery life will get worse and unfortunately there are no methods to restore a lithium battery.
Use a cooling pad to reduce the laptop battery temperature
For a lithium battery, you can increase its life by making your laptop cool. If your laptop gets hot then, it can destroy the battery and can slow down its effects. You can use the cooling pad off Amazon to increase the life of your laptop battery. You may think that your battery is on the last stage, but it could simply be that it is getting to heat and therefore loses charge faster.
Recalibrate your laptop battery
It generally happens with the old batteries. In this situation, you may get an advantage from a recalibration. Recalibrating a battery is done because sometimes, the operating system is unable to identify how much capacity is left in the battery. This happens when you never let your laptop battery get a discharge or the laptop is always plugged in.
The Process to recalibrate a battery is:-
Step 1- Fully charge your battery and leave it for two hours to cool down
Step 2- Now plug out, and let the battery trench. There are two methods involved in this either you let your battery discharge until the laptop dies or set it so that it can go to sleep mode or hibernates around 4 to 5%.
Step 3- let the laptop remain off for 4 to 5 hours
Step 4- switch it on and charge until it reaches 100%
In this way, you can get to know the actual capacity of the battery.
