These issues are mainly of two natures; either the hardware of your laptop is facing a failure or the software of your computer has been compromised with. These elementary yet fatal problems can potentially render your laptop useless.

Under such conditions, the first thing that strikes us is that we need to take our laptop to a service station. Immediately after that, the question of how expensive or otherwise it will turn out to be. What if you were told that you need not worry about those petty details? Sometimes the most primitive form of issues, if left unchecked or unrecognized, can prove to be very heavy a burden on us. That is to say, you can quickly troubleshoot your problems away while sitting at your couch, sipping on your morning coffee.

In this article, we are going to look at some of the most common laptop problems and their solutions. So let’s begin. First, we will look at some of the most common laptop hardware problems and their solutions.

Common Laptop Problems and Solutions

Overheating

Problem: Laptops are always being carried around wherever their owners tend to travel. This means they accumulate a lot of dust particles along with other debris. This can often lead to our laptops crashing down and/or freezing due to overheating. This essentially robs off a computer from performing optimally. Moreover, due to the lack of ventilation because of their small size and design, they tend to overheat.  This can also lead to screen freezing.

Solution: There is a straightforward solution that you can start out with; simply take a clean and dry cloth and clean the air vents of your laptop. Using laptop cleaners are always recommended. This also helps to prevent further dust clogging as well. You can consider updating your BIOS if simply cleaning air vents with a cloth doesn’t work. Most manufacturers provide users with an installation file(s) for updating your laptop BIOS as it controls the hardware itself.

Black Screen

Black Screen on Laptop

Problem: You turn on your laptop, and you can hear the system running, yet all that you can see in front of you is a black screen. At first glance, it seems to be a really dreadful situation, but nine times out of ten, it is a simple issue with your hardware.

Solution: If you are faced with a black screen in front of your device, try plugging out your laptop from the power source and pull out the battery. Then hold down the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Now plug in your computer, reboot your system, and shut it down again. Now put the battery back in the laptop and turn it on again.

If your issue doesn’t fix even after following the above steps, then you are that 10th unlucky person; for now, you really need to consider buying a new laptop. But before you do that, make sure to take your computer to a service center, though.

System Blue Screen Error

Problem: This is one of the most dreaded hardware issues as far as laptops are concerned. Most of the time, the laptop screen suddenly turns blue. It can happen as soon as you have opened the computer or even when you are in the middle of an important project on your laptop. It most probably occurs due to two reasons, a hardware failure and/or a driver problem.

Solution: If you are facing a system blue screen error, you can try reinstalling the driver. Also, you should troubleshoot the hardware problem and try to solve it. In case neither of the solutions is working, you may consider backing up all your data and re-formatting your Hard Drive, and then try reinstalling your Operating System. This is sure to get you out of the mess.

Automatic Shut Down

Problem: Sometimes, it happens that you are working on your laptop for quite some time and realize that you are not plugged in, and your battery’s charge is falling. Now, as you plug it in, your laptop automatically shuts down. This is most probably due to either overheating or due to some issues in your charging port.

Solution: In case your laptop is overheated, you already know what to do. However, if that is not the case, then it is very likely that your charging port is getting short-circuited somewhere, somehow, and you need to locate the source so that you can fix the issue. It is highly likely that the laptop maintenance guy at the service station will follow similar approaches.

Battery Draining out Quickly

Problem: Have you ever faced a situation where you are already halfway through your project, and your laptop battery just gives out on you? I know it is a very aggravating situation, and if you feel like just throwing away your laptop from the balcony, no one can blame you. However, at the same time, that is not a rational response. What is, however, follows…

Solution: The very first thing that strikes our brain in such situations is that we need a new battery. Just wait up before you start pondering your options to buy a new battery. Try checking your cables and connections. If any of those doesn’t fit snugly, then you can stay rest assured that your battery is not faulty; instead, your connections are. But if they do fit comfortably, then drain out your battery entirely up until the moment your laptop dries out. Now plug it in to charge. If your issue isn’t fixing even after this, you can start looking for a new battery.
